Invited Speaker

Throughout this year’s conference events, I will continue to fold in elements of transformational change and situational leadership as we discuss how to shape training and sport experiences that honor the hormonal landscape of the biological female athlete.

Though education is the critical starting point in supporting female athlete health and well-being, athletes must also feel psychologically and emotionally safe within their sport space for education to be received and utilized in appropriate ways. For coaches and leaders in sport, this means we must be equally adept at providing sound education while simultaneously cultivating environments in which athlete well-being is centered and seen to live in harmony with peak performance.

Though this may sound straightforward in theory, with the prevalence of multi-symptom REDs in female athletes as high as 37% across various sport groups (Rogers et al., 2020), we know we have a great deal of work to do as leaders to ensure that healthy, equitable spaces are the norm for women and girls in sport.
